Eolian earrings

Regular price £82.00
What I love about the Eolian earrings, is how unusual they are. Really, they were a bit of an experiment. I wasn’t at all sure about whether to include them in The Windblown Collection, until I saw them on my model and friend Cristina. You have to see them worn to fall in love with them... and I think they are probably a perfect fit for the more quirky ones amongst us.
‘Eolian’ means relating to or arising from the action of the wind, and there is something about the flag-like nature of these embellished studs that sits perfectly with that.
The tiny V handcrafted in eco-silver sits sideways for the Eolian design, with the tip of the V pointing to the outside of the ear and a silver headpin threaded through the two 2mm diameter tubes attached to the top, coming down in a vertical axes.
The headpin has three clear 2mm seed beads (silver-lined) interspersed with a 3mm faceted kyanite and a 3mm facteted emerald bead; the colour combination reminiscent of a momentary reflection on sunlit water. A silver ball tops the bottom and the top of the headpin, which necessitates some very careful soldering, buffing and hand polishing on my part!
The detail
From side to side each entire earring measures 8mm across, from top to bottom they are 13mm in length, and from front to back (including earring posts) they are 1.4cm deep, with the silver charm itself being 0.7mm thick.
The earring post itself is formed from 0.8mm wire and measures 14cm long, with the notch for butterfly back sitting 2mm before the end of the post. The ends of each post are ever so slightly tapered but smooth, so they can be easily slid into your ear lobe piercing.
The butterfly earring backs vary in width (its super hard to make them all exactly the same size) but each pair is as symmetrical as handmade-humanly-possible and they tend to be around 3mm deep, by 3mm wide by 6mm long (top loop to bottom loop).
