This small, solid silver cube has been carved with love, especially for you.
It was inspired by a fence post (yes, truly! )which marks the half way point of my run, just past a little marina called Hallingbury down the river from where our boat is moored. It's one of those fence posts with a triangular section on the top and it got me wondering whether I could create a perfect cube in silver.
I started carving it freehand in wax when we were out on a sunny river trip courtesy of our houseboat, and was delighted when it came together just one abandoned attempt later. I created it immediately after I had carved the heart version: the cube feels like a solid alternative for those who prefer something a little less feminine, more weighted and evenly balanced.
As with all my 'Carved with love' pieces, my hope is that you will wear it as reminder that you are loving, and loved. When you feel it around your neck, or raise your fingers to touch it, it will be like a talisman, reminding you to gift yourself the love and attention you need in this moment - whatever that looks like.
The cube itself is solid sterling silver - but is pierced corner to corner (so you can see it is a cube rather than a plain old square!). The delicate silver chain runs right through it's centre; it has a really pleasing weight and tactile finish - perfect if you fidget and/or fingers like to be distracted whilst you think.
No hand carved piece is perfect and I lovingly hand carved it initially in blue wax, before getting it cast in sterling silver. You can see the strokes I've made during it's creation. It has an organic feel with sides that are not perfectly symmetrical, and smoothed edges.
I've purposely given the variation pictured a rustic finish via a coarser grain of emery paper. I can provide a more 'perfect' variation with a smoother high shine finish if you prefer: please select the option you prefer at check out.
If you'd like to learn more about where these pieces began, visit my Carved with Love blog post or to see the process, visit the videos on my TikTok feed.
Please note that because each necklace is individually cast and made to order, there may be a delay of up to 4 weeks, between you placing an order and the piece being received by you.
The detail
The cube itself is just under 10mm on all sides. The chain is a very fine sterling silver cable chain measuring a delicate 1.6mm x 1.2mm.
The entire piece, including the chain weighs 5.7g. As this is under the weight required for hallmarking, and in order to speed up the ordering process, this piece is not hallmarked.
Standard chain lengths are available in 16, 17 and 18 inches or a bespoke length. The necklace chain is finished with a 9mm lobster clasp and 4mm round catch, both in sterling silver.
Where you want something other than the lengths listed above, please select the bespoke option and state the length required in the comments when you place your order, or send me an email. Please note that there will be a surcharge for chains that are longer than 22 inches long.
There is further information in the dropdown section ‘Chain lengths and ring sizes’, below.
Chain lengths and bespoke bangle and ring sizes
You are welcome to request a specific length of necklace chain, and/or an exact ring size. There is no extra charge for this service, but please do ensure you specify your requirements within the comments when placing your order. Alternatively, if you have any queries or wish to amend an order you have already made, please email me on dawn@foundbydawn.co.uk
Necklace, bracelet, bangle or anklet lengths:
Simply take a tape measure and loop around your neck, wrist or anklet (you may need someone to help), or even better use a necklace, bracelet or anklet that is of the length you would like and measure it from end to end (including catches and clasps)
For further help, please check out my handy guide to necklace lengths!
Ring sizes:
If you are unsure of your size, I would strongly recommend purchasing a ring sizer like this one (£1.20). Please note that this is for illustration purposes only; I have no affiliation with Amazon or this seller and you can obviously choose to buy these from other providers).
Alternatively this guide will help you find the correct measurement for the finger you wish to wear the ring on. Please double check before sending your order and bear in mind that your knuckle which the ring needs to move over, may be bigger than the base of your finger where it will sit.
Bespoke requests
I have presented the standard options for variation – such as size variations, satin or high shine finish - and you may select these to suit your preferences when placing your order.
If you love a design, but would like another finish not listed, such as the item in gold, gold plate, two different metals, or with the extra touch of a stone (or stones) added, please contact me direct, by emailing your contact phone number to dawn@foundbydawn.co.uk.
It is best for me to talk to you about what you would like, and I can provide you with a bespoke quotation, with no obligation.

I care about environmental impact and am doing all I can to minimise my carbon footprint.
Hallmarking
Legally in the UK, any silver piece of silver jewellery weighing more than 7.78g, must be hallmarked in order to be sold as silver. Many of my creations weigh less than this, but I sometimes choose to get them hallmarked anyway (see individually listings).
Jewellers who use hallmarks, are reassuring you of the quality of precious metal they use, ensuring your chosen piece stays special long into the future.
You can learn more about what the hallmarks mean and why they are important in this pdf, or watch the video below.
